This article explains how to use a water flosser (for example a Waterpik).
- A water flosser sprays water to clean between teeth.
- It does not clean as well as floss or interdental brushes, but it can help.
- It can be messy. Use it over the basin.
Steps
- Fill the tank with warm water. Put it on the base.
- Click a tip firmly into the handle. The normal tip is fine for daily use.
- Set it to the lowest pressure.
- Put the tip in your mouth before turning it on.
- Aim at the gaps between the teeth. Turn it on.
- Close your lips a little so water does not splash.
- Start at the gum line at the back. Move slowly to the front, then to the back on the other side.
- Do the outside and inside of the teeth. Stop for a moment at each gap.
Use it for about 1 minute, twice a day. Follow the instructions that come with it.
