This article explains how to floss. Flossing removes food and plaque (germs) from between teeth. This helps prevent gum disease, decay and bad breath.

Steps

  1. Take about 30 to 45 cm of floss. Wind it around your middle fingers. Hold it tight with your thumbs and pointer fingers.
  2. Gently slide the floss between two teeth.
  3. Rub the floss up and down the side of each tooth. Go a little under the gum.
  4. Take the floss out. Use a clean part of the floss for the next gap. Floss behind the last back tooth too.

Bleeding

Bleeding usually means the gums are swollen. Keep flossing every day. It usually gets better. Also see your dental professional.
