This article explains how to clean your tongue with a tongue scraper.
- Germs that cause bad breath live on the tongue, mostly at the back.
- Clean your tongue regularly. Use a tongue scraper or a toothbrush.
Steps
- Do this before you brush your teeth.
- Stick out your tongue. You may see a coloured coating at the back.
- Scrape from the back of the tongue to the tip.
- Do this 3 times, or until the tongue looks clean.
- Rinse your mouth. Rinse the scraper and let it dry.
Other causes of bad breath
Brushing, cleaning between teeth and some mouthwashes also help. Dry mouth, gum disease, tonsil stones and stomach problems can also cause bad breath. These need to be looked after too.
