This article explains how to clean clear aligners, plastic retainers and whitening trays.

• Cleaning stops germs, fungus and stains.
• Liquid soap and cold water is usually enough.
• Never use hot water. It changes the shape.
• Cleaning tablets can be used 1 or 2 times a week. They do not replace brushing.

Steps

1. Take out the aligner or retainer. Rinse it with water.
2. Put on liquid soap or Dental Fresh gel. Brush gently.
3. Rinse with cold water only.
4. Once a week, soak it with a cleaning tablet.
5. Let it dry before putting it away. This stops mould and germs.

For hard build-up, soak in white vinegar for 5 to 10 minutes.
