Amelo was thrilled to be awarded a federal government research grant with ARIIA. Aged Care Research and Industry Innovation Australia have funded a trial of the software in partnership with Australian Catholic University and Southern Cross Care.
The study is lead by Kieran Flanagan Phd, senior lecturer and national course coordinator of Speech Pathology. The research aims to measure the impact of using the software’s automated oral health risk assessment and education process on the residents of aged care homes and the staff. Much of 2024 has been spent designing the study and completing the recruitment process. In recent weeks the program has been rolled out at Southern Cross, Raceview, based in Ipswich, west of Brisbane.
Participants were screened for their oral risk factors using the online quiz, which then creates tailored education and generates a care plan that the residents can follow with support from the care staff.
This is backed up by providing them a care pack with quality preventive care products selected based on their efficacy and active ingredients.
